In 2007 and 2008 I had a pleasure to participate in Swedish Bridge Festival. This is very nice 1 week long bridge event, with many different tournaments available. Main event of this festival is Chairman Cup teams tournament, where at least 75 teams participate, representing strongest players from Sweeden and a lot of strong teams from Denmark, Poland, England, Latvia, Italy, Netherlands and many others. In 2 days You must qualify for knock-out, so need to finish at least 28th place after 15 rounds of round robbin.
Also You have opportunity to leap in knock-out by second chance tournament, but there are only 2 places available. So this is not an easy task, considering strong teams participating in this event. If You are good enough to qualify for knock-out stage, then its possible to win 5 matches and get beautiful Chairman`s Cup and solid prize money. Swedish Bridge Union invites 1 national team to participate in Chairman`s Cup with free entry fee.
If at any stage You are knocked out, don' t worry. Festival offer a lot of different pairs tournaments and mini-teams knock-outs. Every afternoon Silver tournaments with average 200 pairs are available. If You play well, after 42 boards reasonable prize money will be given. In the morning You can choose between Bronze pairs tournaments (24 boards) or mini knock-out teams. All ornaments are very well organized with high level tournament directors and fast result calculation.
Organizers offer special rates for stay in hotels and also available stay in camping with nice swimming pond and other outdoor activities.
